BE AN INTUITIVE WARRIOR: FOLLOW YOUR HEART + EMBRACE THE UNKNOWN

There are times in my life where I feel extremely guided. Sometimes I am led to exactly what I need without even realising I need it. Sequences of events just seem to magically unfold in a way that cause me to arrive at a perfect destination. It was as a result of such a sequence that I found myself at an event yesterday called Intuitive Warrior. This beautiful full day workshop was held by Be Free People and featured inspiring and powerful talks by Amir Zoghi, William Whitecloud and Kerwin Rae. The timing of this workshop and my attendance at the event could not have been more perfectly aligned. As soon as I arrived there, I knew I was exactly where I needed to be.

Before I share with you what I learned from this phenomenal day, I want to share a little about what has been going on for me lately, and why my attendance at this workshop was so important.

THE FORK IN THE ROAD: LOVE VS FEAR

Over the past week, I have been attempting to make one of those big life-altering decisions. I reached a fork in the road and had two options laying before me. Stay where I am, or make a change. A change that would move me out of my comfort zone, and in to the zone of the unknown

I had one voice pulling me in one direction and one voice in the other. One was the voice of fear and it was telling me to stay where I was, to not make a change, and to not take a risk. The other voice was the voice of love, and it was telling me to follow my heart, embrace what was new and unknown and trust I would be taken care of.

It felt like I had reached a moment where I had to decide - love or fear. I could almost hear the Universe saying to me

"So, you say you believe in following your intuition, huh?! Well prove it. Show me. Walk your talk, girl. Here is your chance. Are you going to use this opportunity to demonstrate your belief in the power of intuition? Are you going to ignore the desperate cries of your ego that are trying to hold you back and keep you playing small? Are you going to finally take a leap of faith and trust that inner knowing that is inside of you, and no longer succumb to all the excuses of why you can not do it?"

My answer?

Yes.

Damn straight I am.

CHOOSING LOVE + FOLLOWING INTUITION

And so, I made a decision. I made the decision to move out of the comfort and security of my very affordable, spacious and beautiful apartment that I share with two friends, into an equally beautiful, yet rather tiny and quite unaffordable studio apartment. On my own.

For me this was a big decision. I have never lived on my own, and I have never paid such a high amount of money to do so. And while my logical mind was going crazy trying to tell me all the reasons why I was making a big mistake, my heart was telling me that I was totally and utterly spot on.

And how did I know I was spot on? Because to me, the idea of living on my own, in my own little home, brings about such amazing feelings of joy, freedom, expansion, creativity and peace. It feels like something that would bring me more happiness than anything else I can think of. It is a decision driven by my heart, by a love for myself and an acknowledgement of what will support me in this current stage of my life. It feels like honouring my truth. This is how I know it was the right decision.

Through the journey of making this decision, I have been intuitively guided. Amidst all the anxiety and the chaotic thoughts, there has been a voice of knowing inside me, speaking such clear truth that I could not ignore it. Even with all of the noise of my mind, I could still catch glimpses of it.  And every time I tuned in and listened to it, I knew without a shadow of a doubt it was right.

So, I am doing it. And it all happened pretty bloody quickly! On Monday I found the place. On Tuesday I saw it. On Wednesday I applied for it. On Thursday I got it. On Friday I signed the lease.

Done. Just like that.

When you listen to your intuition. And act on it. Things happen. And they happen, quickly.

And they happen quickly so that your logical mind does not have time to talk you out of it.

LIVING AS AN INTUITIVE WARRIOR

So, back to the Intuitive Warrior event.

What I heard at this workshop reconnected me with the truth inside of myself that I had lost touch of. It reminded me of something, that I did not even realise I had forgotten. It was the check-up I was craving. It re-calibrated me in to the vibration of love. It reconnected me with my heart.

More than anything it rekindled my faith in my intuition. My logical mind had been going crazy all week attempting to convince me that following my heart was the wrong decision. I had been experiencing crippling anxiety as this fearful voice began to infiltrate my thoughts. I begged for an answer, and it arrived

So, I want to share with you some of the key learnings, or shall I say remember-ings, that I had at this event, with the aim that these reminders may also help reconnect you back to your truth

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

+ Following your intuition requires courage and a warrior-like spirit. It requires you to take a leap of faith, and trust in something greater that what you can experience with your five senses.

+ Intuition has zero logic, and that is why your rational mind completely freaks out whenever you attempt to follow your intuition. Intuition does not need to provide reasons or justifications as to why something is right. It simply calls you towards experiencing greater feelings of love, peace and joy, as that is all that matters.

+ Your intuition does not need a 'plan of attack' because it is only concerned with the present moment. There is no fear of the unknown and no worry of the future. All is well, and all that matters is right now.  It is the ego that needs to feel safe but ensuring it knows what is going to happen.

+ To follow your intuitive messages you must be fully present in this moment. If your mind is stuck in the past or the future, you may miss it. Intuition only provides you with what you need for this moment. And you will be pulled to take immediate action right here and now. If you decide to think about it or try to delay it, the moment will be gone.

+ You intuitive feelings are like a 'sense of knowing'. You just know. There is no real reason, you just know. It has a sense of certainty to it. The more that you follow these feelings as they arise, the easier it will become to recognise them.

+ To follow your intuition, you must be able to embrace uncertainty. There may be a sense of uncertainty about 'how' something will happen, but if you continue to trust your sense of inner certainty, and act on it,  then the how will take care of itself.

+ Your intuition knows no limits, no boundaries, no lack and no fear. Any time you are thinking that you cannot do something, or doubting yourself, or feeling fear, then you are disconnected from your intuitive heart energy and you are stuck back in your head.

+ What are your experiences with following your intuition?
+ How have you used it through your life?

  1. Connie, this post rocks. I often feel when I read your posts that our life experiences are bouncing off one another! I can totally relate with you with the house mate 'thing'. Glen and I are newlyweds and I recently had this lightning bolt thought of 'what are we doing? We don't need housemates.. we're married, all I want is you...' Unfortunately when we move back to Australia shortly we'll be in staff accommodation for three months, but after that, there's this glorious anticipation of a life together, in our own space, with our own rules- a place where our own creativity and energy can fill up the walls.
Also, I've become dear friends with my intuition, I treasure her. In the last 6 weeks she has sped up my spiritual practice, and the synchronicities in my every day life are beautiful little happenings that just make me say 'thank you' out loud. I only wish every one knew of their intuition and there inner guidance, and SPIRIT.
Keep doing your thing! Your blog is beautiful x

  2. I Loved this! First of all congrats on the move. You looked Monday and signed Friday! That's what I'm talkin' about. I love the points you bring up about how your Intuition doesn't need a "plan of attack". The ideas of being fully present and there may not be logic are important too. They all echo the advice of not being worried about the "How". The Universe takes care of that, just know the "What", believe in it and go for it. Thanks for the "Reminder" as we can all use that from time to time! Go Intuition Warriors!! xo

  4. This is so relevant to me right now!! I am about to take a giant leap into the unknown by following my dreams and moving to Paris! I have no idea what I am going to do there, I just have to trust my heart and the universe that I have done the right thing. Being out of your comfort zone is the most rewarding thing you can ever do!! I was like you last year and moved out of a house share to a place by myself and I can tell you, it was the best decision I ever made! You will find the pros definitely outweigh the cons!! Good luck!! xo

  5. Oh yes, intuition FTW! :)

It's scary to enter the unknown, but sometimes we have to do this if we are to follow our hearts. My heart's been telling me for a very long time that there are things I need to change, and I'm gearing up to make the leap. It's tough, because I've no idea whether I'll land on two feet or come crashing to my knees, but I'll never be able to taste the sweetness of a successful landing if I don't jump in the first place. And if I don't land perfectly? Then I believe that everything in life brings with it a lesson to be learned. And I can't wait to see what my leap will teach me!

I hope your move goes well and you settle quickly into your lovely new home :)

  6. Hi Connie, I just discovered your incredibly inspiring blog via In Spaces Between. I often struggle with listening to my intuition vs listening to my head + as a result always find it so difficult to make decisions. Your post has made me realise I need to listen to my gut more and be more trusting in myself. Thank you + I look forward to following from now on! xx
