Have you ever had a dream that you really wanted to achieve, but because you did not think it was possible, you gave up on it? Or has there ever been something you really wanted to do, but because you did not believe you had what it took, you quit?

On the contrary, have you ever had a big dream that you really wanted, and even though you had no idea how you were going to do it, or even if you could do it, you committed to achieving in anyway? And as a result of making that commitment to what you wanted, somehow, almost magically, everything unfolded perfectly and you achieved your goal?

The difference between these 2 examples, is one thing; commitment

Being committed requires making a decision. A whole hearted decision. You need to be so commited that there is no back-up plan, no escape route, and simply nothing else to consider.

When you are truly committed, giving up is not an option.

"Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, the providence moves too. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favour all manner of unforeseen incidents, meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamt would come his way.” --William Hutchinson Murray

I love this quote. It is a powerful reminder of the importance of making an unwavering commitment to the achievement of what we really want. What is said here is undeniably true. Magic happens when you commit.

The simple act of making a whole-hearted, non negotiable decision, sends a crystal clear message to the Universe about what you are intending to create. The laser-like energy that your decision sets forth, immediately begins to alter the Universe and what it is that you are attracting to you.

Many people do not commit to doing something that scares them or that is out of their comfort zone, until they have some sense of certainty about how it is all going to play out. So, rather than just making a decision and going for it, they instead sit their ‘waiting for all the ducks to line up’ before they do anything. Or, they only half-commit to that they can allow themselves the option to back out of it if it gets too hard.

Fear often arises when we attempt to make a concrete commitment to doing something when we have no idea what is actually going to happen, or what is going to be required of us.

Uncertainty scares our ego, because it removes it’s sense of control and safety. But that is also why it is so beautiful, because in order to embrace uncertainty, you have to forgo listening to your ego, and find a trust in something much deeper. The ego likes to delay us from making this commitment, as it ensures that we are kept safe and do not take any risks to lose love, approval, security, or anything else that we crave.

It is our job to remain totally committed on what we want, and clearly focused on where we are going, despite the fears or uncertainties we encounter.

You have to be willing to do whatever it takes to achieve your goal. The only way to do this is to remain connected to why it is you want your goal. When you have a powerful, inspiring and over-arching reason why you are doing something, it will propel you forward and give you the energy to overcome any challenges you face.

When you focus on your outcome, connect with the feelings that it brings up in you. What is it that you are wanting to experience as a result of achieving this goal? What are you hoping it will give you? How will it impact your life? Create a beautiful image in your mind's eye of the outcome you are wanting. This vision will guide you through your journey, and support you to remain committed to making this dream a reality.

"Take the first step in faith. You don't have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step." -- Martin Luther King Jr.

Once you are committed, you must trust and have faith that the Universe will support you. There will be countless times through your journey that your mind will want to jump in and take control. It will become fearful of the uncertainty and will attempt to get you to follow it's plan.  You must keep your mind squarely focused on the outcome you are wanting to achieve, and forget about what is in between.

At each step along the journey, you will be guided to what you need to do next. You do not need to see the whole staircase. You do not need to know how it will all unfold. Simply remain committed, and certain that it will all be taken care of.  The Universe is here to support you. As long as you are willing to play at 100% the Universe will ensure that everything you need is delivered to you.

+ What dreams are you committing to achieving?
+ What is the vision behind this dream, and why is it that achieving it means so much to you?

  1. Connie thankyou.. i am siting here with a tear running down my cheek.. perfect perfect timing! xx

    1. you are gorgeous, smilie chickie. im so pleased that you were able to get something really powerful from this post xx

  2. Beautiful! I particularly love this part: "In order to embrace uncertainty, you have to forgo listening to your ego, and find a trust in something much deeper." Deep within us is the ability to withstand anything. We just need to tap into it, have faith, and leap.

"Everything will be OK in the end. If it's not OK, it's not the end."

    1. Thanks Rebecca. You are spot on! Once we realised the power of what we have inside of us, we can take that leap, and take it without fear.

I love that phrase you included - Everything will be ok in the end. It is is not ok, it is not the end. This is something I have actually repeated to myself numerous times when I have been facing challenges and it beings me so much peace.

      Connie xx

  3. LOVE this post Connie.
You/the universe brought it to me at the perfect time.
I've had way too much time to think lately, and it's been doing my head in. It's hard to not overthink things all the time, but I just keep coming back to that same thing you mentioned... You have to let the universe do its thing. As much as you want to control it sometimes, you can't!

And that's usually where the magic happens. When you just let go of the stress & the worry.

    1. Thanks Sian. Isn't it just the best when the Universe delivers us the exact message we need to hear!!

I can relate to exactly what youre saying here, because I have a strong tendency to get stuck in my head too. And when I do, not only does nothing seem to 'work' but it also causes so much stress! I have achieved the most amazing results in my life, not when I have 'tried' to, but when I completely let go of 'trying' to.

Relinquishing control is a huge task for a lot of people, but I believe that is the lesson to be learnt. Once we understand the true power that we have inside of us, and how much the Universe loves and supports us, we realise that trying to control things with our tiny little mind is ridiculous!!

Thank you for your comment darling xx

  4. This is so beautiful and so true!

Fear of failure and the uncertain is always on my mind. It is time to let go and believe I can achieve whatever I want in life.
    Such a lovely reminder!:)

    Thanks Connie x

    1. Thanks Kate. It is is uncertainty that stops many of us, and the fear associated with 'not knowing' how things will unfold. But the purpose of these experiences is for you to learn to develop a trust in your SELF and your ability to handle anything that life brings you. When you back yourself 100% and know the Universe will always support you, your fear of the unknown melts away.

When you connect with the love energy inside of you, and commit to the outcome you want, it will pull you forward and you will rise above the fear that you 'perceive' is stopping you.

Thank you for your comment kate.

      Connie xx

  5. This is so true Connie, love this post! It is so easy to get caught up in everything and forget about why you started something in the first place and what you actually wanted to achieve. I need to remind myself of this often ;)
