8 FUNDAMENTALS TO MANIFEST YOUR DREAMS

Since the start of the year, I feel like I have been going at a hundred miles an hour. While I have achieved a huge amount and can proudly say I have ticked many goals off the list, I must admit I have been left feeling quite exhausted. My unbalanced drive for external results has began to wane, and I am now seeking the solace of some internal reflection and higher support.

As a result, I have began reconnecting with some of the practices that I used to draw on during times of growth and transition. I have gone back to my bookshelf and pulled out books that I have not read in years. I have dusted off my juicer and got back on my liquid greens. I have rolled out the yoga mat and surrendered in child's pose. I have begun to slow down a little and turn inwards a bit more so that I can begin to listen to the guidance that I have recently been neglecting.

Looking back on what I have achieved so far this year, I have actually had mixed results. I have ended up getting most of what I wanted, however a lot of the time it felt like a struggle. At times, it was hard work, and things did not always go my way. In some of my endeavours, I did not get the results I wanted. Other times I did, but it took a long time for them to come through. These mixed experiences have got my reflecting on how it is that we actually create our external experiences (because as you know, we are all creators) and how we in fact manifest our desires.

Upon reflection I have found that the times I was relaxed, expectant, patient, optimistic and detached from the outer results, things came quickly and everything seemed to flow. Yet, the times when I was controlling, manipulative, fixated on the end result and attempting to force things to happen my way and as quickly as I could, I seemed to encounter road blocks. Somehow my Ego has taken over the reins this year, and has been determined to
make things happen. There has been no room for intuitive signs, going with the flow, or Law of Attraction synchronicities. It was simply all systems go. While it seemed to work at the time, the more that I think about it, the more I realise how inefficient and ineffective this strategy is.

So, over the past few weeks I have begun reconnecting with what I see as the fundamentals of how we create our lives. I have been studying and applying these principles for years, but somehow I have lost touch with them, as I believe many of us have. Through simply being willing to shift my perspective, there have already been many AHA's and countless realisations. Not only that, but I have already experienced some magical and unexpected manifestations. I feel like a huge light has been shone down on my life, and now I see everything in crystal clear clarity. This has inspired me to share this with you on this blog. So, read on and get ready to manifest...

8 Fundamentals to Manifest Your Dreams

1. Get Crystal Clear Clarity
Deciding what you want to create in your life, is an obvious first step in the manifestation process. Yet, if I asked you to describe to me exactly what you wanted each area of your life to look like, you may find that your desires are not so clear after all. A process called Clarity through Contrast is one I learnt from
Michael Losier, and I highly recommend you check it out here. You start by getting super clear on what you do not want or do not like, and then find the opposite of it to birth new clarity on what you do want.

While it is important to be specific, I would recommend not getting too attached to the exact details. You want to be clear enough so you know where you are going, but not so specific that you are rigidly attached to how it must look. You must also only focus on the end result you are wanting, and not worry yourself about how it will all come about.

2. Use the Law of Attraction
The Law of Attraction is one of the many Universal Laws that govern how our Universe works. The Law of Attraction works on the principle of
like attracts like. Similar energies are magnetised together. We each give off an energy to the Universe through our thoughts and our feelings, and in return we receive things back from the Universe that match that energy.
The key thing to remember is that the Law of Attraction is always working. It is a Law (much like the Law of Gravity), and it is never turned off. You may not realise it, but every single thing that currently exists in your life, you have attracted. The trick then is learning how to follow and apply this Law
deliberately and consciously in your life so that you can get more of what you do want, and less of what you don't.

If you still have no idea what the Law of Attraction is, or what I am talking about here, then it is time to get reading! Your ability to manifest your dreams is magnified ten fold when you can harness the energy of the Universe and use the Law of Attraction to help you.

3. Love, Support and Believe
You must love, support and believe in yourself if you want to manifest your dreams. When you love, support and believe in yourself, you feel awesome and you radiate a rocking, positive vibe. Without these 3 things, not only will you be miserable, but you will also end up sabotaging all the good things that come to you. As I have previously mentioned, the Universe responds to your energy. The Law of Attraction cannot bring you wonderful, magical an joyful experiences if you are sitting around giving off a negative energy.

Loving yourself means seeing your worth, seeing your beauty, noticing what is great about you, speaking to yourself kindly and thinking in loving and empowering ways about yourself. When you love yourself, you attract people that will love you, and you are an energetic match to all the things in the world that you would love to experience.

Supporting yourself involves the art of self care and learning how to nourish yourself and meet your own needs in empowering ways. How often do you tear yourself down with unhealthy food, negative thoughts, or limiting beliefs? When you support yourself, the Universe will support you by bringing you everything you need to succeed.

Believing in yourself is one of the most important things you can do to support the manifestation of your dreams. Doubt is the biggest saboteur of manifestation. If you continually radiate a message that says "I do not believe I can have what I want" you will block the Universe from bringing you anything that can help you achieve your dreams You must find ways to believe in who you are and believe that everything you want can be yours.

4. Become Conscious
To me, becoming conscious, means becoming self aware. Self awareness is such a powerful tool. I have spent the past 10 years studying myself deeply and I do not know where I would be had I not embarked on this journey. You must get familiar with what goes on inside of you. You must understand how you
work. What are your belief patterns? What are your stories? What are your habits? What are your self sabotaging behaviours? It is time to really get to know yourself. Pay attention to the results you are getting in your life and notice how your thoughts, energy and what you give your attention to is sustaining and creating it. Start to live proactively.

Becoming conscious, also means waking up and remembering who you are and why you are here. It seems bizarre to me that many people still walk around on this planet thinking they are some lump of flesh and bone and the purpose of their life is to get a job, work their whole life, and then die. We are spiritual beings, people! And there is a magic in this world that exists if you are only willing to open your eyes and see it.

5. Love your NOW
One of the biggest tricks to manifestation is learning how to move away from something you do not like, without feeling negative about it. You cannot criticise and feel negative about where you are, and then expect the Universe to bring you something positive. It will not work. You have to learn to love where you are now, while feeling excited and positive about what is coming.

For me, I have encountered the biggest challenge with this practice, in the area of my career. At the moment, I am working to towards creating a new career path for myself. I have created a vision for my new career that is so awesome, that in comparison, I can't help but notice how not-so-awesome my current career is. However, if I keep giving off a negative vibe about my current situation, I am just going to continue to attract more negative experiences in to my future situation. So, what do I need to do? I have to find ways to start to love where I am now, even though the awesome stuff that I am planning for my future, has not yet come to me.

How do you do this? Firstly, stop giving your current situation so much negative attention. Eg: stop complaining, stop criticising, stop focusing on all the things that you do not like about where you are, and stop telling others about how bad it is etc... The, start giving it more positive attention. Eg: write lists of all the things that are great about your current situation, start expressing gratitude for all the things you currently have, starting pouring 100% of yourself in to it and give it your best everyday, look around and see if you can find some things to appreciate about the people in this situation. Remember, life is a mind game, and it is up to you if you choose to think about it negatively or positively.

6. Practice Co Creation
Co creation involves surrendering the need to do everything on your own, or your way, and instead allowing the Universe to help you and guide you. It involves using your intuition, following Universal signs, accessing higher wisdom, and looking out for synchronicities and coincidences. It means listening to an inner nudge, even when it goes against what you
thought you should be doing. Sometimes it is about letting go, and stopping trying to make things happen and instead simply allowing them to unfold as they are meant to. It requires you to not always know what is going to happen but to have faith that you are always being supported and looked after.

Co Creation starts with a willingness. Just be willing to allow the Universe to step in, and starting paying attention to what happens when it does. Begin to work
with the Universe. Set out an intention, give it your attention daily, and then sit back for a bit and see what things begin to show up. Simply decide on your end result and allow the Universe to show you the how. The more evidence you receive, the more it will confirm to you that there is a greater power working with you.

7. Calm Your Mind
Our minds are usually rattling off thoughts at such a speed, that even if the Universe was trying to give you signs, or your intuition was trying to nudge you in a certain direction, I highly doubt you would hear it. We are so programmed in how we live. We live out our personalities, our belief systems, and our internal map of who we think we are. Rather than continually running around at full throttle trying to be superwoman (or man) just sit for a moment and reconnect with yourself. So often we are outside our body, focused on external results and not even taking a moment to realise whether or not we are actually breathing!

You cannot expect the Universe to help you, if you are not listening. To receive guidance you must create space for it. Sitting down and focusing on your breath or taking time to meditate will greatly assist that. Close your eyes, turn inwards, and breathe. Open your mind and be willing to receive guidance. Tune in to what is going on inside of you and simply feel your inner sensations. By developing a greater connection with yourself, you are actually in turn developing a greater connection with the Universe.

8. Get Grateful
When you express gratitude for the wonderful things you have in your life, you in turn attract even more to be grateful for. However, if the Universe continues to deliver to you, and you do not even stop to say thank you, you will end up losing the gifts you have been given.

There is so much to be grateful for in this world. We live in a magnificent and magical Universe. Both our bodies, and the planet we live on are full of miracles and beauty. I recommend you stop for a moment and look, really look, at what is around you right now.

Notice what is wonderful about it, and then say thank you. You are so well taken care of. Every day you are delivered gifts. Everything that has come to you is a loving gift from the Universe, so say thank you, and appreciate it. The more you acknowledge how blessed you are, the more you will attract experiences that are filled with blessings.

FOLLOW YOUR HEART SERIES #1 - MELANIE COMMONS

This is the first post in the Follow Your Heart Series. This series profiles inspirational women who by listening to their heart and following their inner guidance have changed the course of their life to be one that is now filled with love, passion, fulfilment and bliss.

The aim of this series is to provide support and hope to others who may feel that they are not on a path that is deeply serving them or who have lost connection with their true passion. It is my hope that you will allow the women in this series to serve as role models to inspire you to start listening to what your inner guidance is whispering, and to find the courage to follow the call of your heart.

The first woman to be profiled in this series is Melanie Commons. Mel and I met while we were both travelling through South America. I instantly felt drawn to her. She has an infectious positive energy, a warm open presence and an a beautiful, playful personality.

Melanie Commons - Yoga and Meditation Teacher
Tell us about what you do?
I am a Yoga and meditation teacher on the beautiful Gold Coast, Australia. I own Golden Yoga and run a boutique yoga studio in Burleigh Heads.

What do you love about what you do?
Everyday I get to wake up and teach Yoga to an assortment of gorgeous students. Yoga changed my life and I am lucky enough to be able to share this with everyone who comes in to my studio.

What does following your heart mean to you?
To me, following your heart means to listen very carefully to your inner voice. To allow yourself to be guided without question to what you intuitively know is right. We all have the strength and courage to do this but sometimes our superficial self (the ego, fear) stands in our way.

Was there ever a time that you were not doing what you loved or following your heart? Tell us about this.
I had a very dark childhood and was unable to deal with what happened to me for a long time. I suppressed deep emotions until it was too much to bear and I had to face my demons. I was living in Sydney and had many people in my life who did not have my best interests at heart. I felt trapped in a world where I was misunderstood and I knew I needed to get out
Without really knowing why, I broke up with my partner of 5 years, allowed many friends to disappear from my life, quite my job and decided to go overseas. I then went on a spiritual journey (which I am still on and will be on for the rest of this lifetime!!) which took me out of the life I knew and brought me to where I am today. Yoga has helped me to connect with something deeper, and help me realise that peace cannot be found externally. It is within us.

What was the turning point for you? What made you decide to make a change?
I would have to say the turning point for me was the realisation that I was living a fake life. I was pretending that I was happy when I was actually miserable. Yoga guided me within and allowed me to release the dragon! (I call my inner demons 'the dragon' hehe) Without this 'release' I believe I would still be lost and living a blank existence where everything is repressed and not dealt with. Now I can feel the plateau of peace and happiness and know that it was a rocky road, but gee it was worth it.

How exactly did you make this big transition?
As I mentioned, I literally left my old life behind! I packed up my 'Sydney life' and decided to move overseas. I travelled through South America and Europe for a year and then decided to move back to the Gold Coast to become a Yoga teacher and live on the beach. I have been back on the Gold Coast for almost 2 years and have been teaching Yoga and meditation for a year.

There were many twists and turns along the way and I had a few struggles, but I learnt so much about myself! My old life now seems like a distant dream. My life now is full of healing and love and I am so happy.

Were there any fears/limiting beliefs that you had to overcome? How did you heal these?
Lots of fears, guilt, and lack of self-belief. I am still healing old wounds and working through some old issues. Yoga and meditation, reiki, kinesiology and deep self reflection have been complete life savers and helped me to let go of the attachment I had with the negative parts of my past. I had to relinquish my grip on fear and invite love and light in.

How do you deal now with life's challenges?
I have learnt to respond rather than react. Being aware and present and taking responsibility for my actions, rather than placing blame on external situations or people.

What would be your advice for someone who is wanting to make the transition toward doing more of what they love or living a heart driven life?
Listen to what makes your heart sing. Listen to what makes you feel alive and passionate. Trust in yourself and trust that the universe will look after you if you follow your dream. Don't look too far ahead, take each moment at a time and enjoy the journey rather than feel anxiety about the destination!

What are your daily practices to keep you connected to your heart and your purpose?
Yoga, meditation, reading, writing, and spending time outside with my cat. It is the little things that keep me satisfied.

What core beliefs or philosophies underpin the way that you live your life now?
I am a strict vegetarian and I have been for over a decade for ethical reasons. Being kind to everyone and everything is a daily practice for me and makes me feel good. Being conscious and aware of my behaviour towards myself and other people keeps me grounded as well. Knowing that I am in control of how I feel and what happens around me allows me to reflect on my reactions and change what I do not like about my life.

Do you have anything else you would like to share?
Be kind to yourself! We are all so focused on treating everyone else well and we forget about ourselves. We are all perfect just the way we are and when you are feeling down or uninspired please remember this! Choose your thoughts like you choose your clothes everyday. Relax, put your feet up and laugh! Enjoy this moment, right now!

So, what is next for you?
I am currently completing my next level of Yoga teaching which will be finished at the end of the year, and I am looking at moving to a larger studio in the very near future..watch this space! Everyday I am inspired by my surroundings and the people in my life. I am not sure what the future holds but I am excited to find out.

Where can people find out more about you?
I write a blog online which is on my website www.goldenyoga.com.au and you can find me on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/GoldenYoga. Please contact me on info@goldenyoga.com.au if you would like to ask me anything xx
